Darakeh and Darband Retreats

Being on the foothills of Alborz Mountains, walking along the peaceful trails, and breathing fresh air are the most pleasant moments that Darakeh and Darband in the Iranian capital Tehran offers which is really worth experiencing.

Located in the north of the city, Darband and Darakeh neighborhoods are the most famous retreats overlooking Tehran and well-positioned places for hiking on the heights of Mount Tochal as it was named after the Persian words ‘darband’ means gateway of the mountain and Darakeh driven from ‘Darage’ which is a kind of shoes for snow marching.

Known as a perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital, visitors can have some time off in nature and enjoy the facilities and activities including abundant traditional restaurants and teashops serving delicious cuisines and beverages in a relaxing atmosphere with a suitable climate particularly in the summer.

Starting from the northern side of Tajrish Square, the 250-meter-long trail of Darband passes several waterfalls and streams all the way up the hills that along it, people can take tasty treats such as apricots, berries, nuts, steamed lima beans, and rolls of Lavashak (pressed dried fruits) from the stalls lined on the lower reaches.

Having eaten the food, it is time to climb up the Tochal Mountain or take a chair lift, go to ski slope and do bungee jumping. The place is very crowded on weekends and in the evenings when both locals and tourists visit the resort. Here, visitors can easily go to other northern natural attractions like Saad Abad complex or Jamshidiyeh Park from a trail starting further east.

The resorts are definitely the most interesting places for Tehranis who intend to get together along the streams with family and friends and a great place for tourists to have a relaxing time and get to know with Iranian people.
